Lenticular art is really cool to look at. This is of course due to the movement in the image, but also because of the endless creative possibilities!
This type of art is made in different ways. For example, you have the different effects that use a lens, but you also have the old way of making these types of prints. 'Old', but very cool and characteristic! In the blog post you can read more about these different types and see cool examples.
Lenticular 2 in 1
How does this work?
These are the prints we make . This method of printing uses a lenticular lens . This gives the print the cool effect. The prints are thin and can be framed, just like regular art prints.
The two works of art are interlaced and printed, the lens passes over them and the works of art come to life! Simple animations are also possible with this.
With this effect you can, for example, create art with color changes, changes in a person's posture, you name it. Because a lens is used, the effect is extra beautiful and unexpected.
Luz Perez-Ojeda Art Studio
This art studio contains beautiful lenticular works of art. These prints make great use of the effect. Not only are the images optimal for the effect, they also work well with the effect by also involving the intermediate phase of the change. This way, not only the images themselves are beautiful, but also the transition!
Lenticular 3D
How does this work?
A lenticular lens is also used here. However, these prints are a little more complicated.
These prints consist of many more frames. The image is divided into different depth layers. Based on a software-generated depth map , these layers move slightly over each other. Because one eye sees a slightly different frame than your right eye, it looks as if the print is 3D. This looks really cool!
Walt's Revenge 3D Lenticular
This is a super nice example of 3D art. This print makes great use of the 3D effect by creating multiple depth layers in Mickey Mouse's head.
Tabula Scalata
How does this work?
This is the old form of lenticular printing. From this 'technique', lenticular lenses were eventually created hundreds of years later.
The print consists of many triangles in a row. Some of the images are on both visible sides of the triangle.
It is a beautiful physical and impressive work of art. It is widely used in marketing, for example at trade fairs.
Sally Canzoneri | Then-Now Series
In this series, photos from the past and present are combined in a tabula scalata. By using color and black and white photos together, the contrast looks very nice!
