Nowadays you almost always have your smartphone in your pocket with which you can take beautiful photos at any time. The quality is not as good as professional cameras, although it is now very close! In this blog post we give 5 tips with which you can make your smartphone photos even more beautiful so that you can take poster-worthy photos with just your phone.
1. Keep the horizon straight
A photo immediately looks better if the horizon is depicted straight. It keeps the photo from being a mess. With your smartphone you can set up a grid that divides your screen into 9 sections. With the straight lines of the grid you can easily get the horizon perfectly straight into the picture.
You can also position your subject perfectly with this. With the grid you can easily photograph all visual elements perfectly.
2. Find the right lighting
Lighting is very important in every photo. Especially with smartphone photos, it can make or break the photo. Are you taking a photo inside? Find a spot near a window. Daylight is one of the best lighting for your photos.
Indoors it is best to photograph with the light at your back. This gives the best effect. Outdoors it can also be nice to take photos with backlight from the sun. This allows you to experiment with focus points and what this does to the photo.
3. Don't zoom in
With most smartphones you use 'digital zoom'. This means that you simply make the pixels larger, so to speak. This is of course accompanied by a huge loss of quality.
Especially if you want to take a photo for a poster, it is not a good idea to zoom in this way. The best thing you can do is move closer.
4. Use burst mode
Are you taking a photo of a moving subject or do you want to be able to choose between different photos? Burst mode is your best friend.
With this mode you can take a lot of photos by holding the button where you take photos. This allows you to see afterwards which photo is the sharpest and where the lighting is perfect.
This way you increase your chances of getting the perfect photo!
5. Do not use flash
As you read earlier in this blog, lighting can make or break a photo. Photos simply don't look good in the dark. Now you can use a flash, but as you have probably already found out yourself. This does not always make the photo beautiful.
The flash is often very bright and does not illuminate the entire photo evenly. It's better to grab a lamp to illuminate your subject. This means you have far fewer disadvantages than if you use the flash.
